Adventure House

A two-word adventure in the spirit of the games I typed in from magazines, now drawn room by room as well. You wake up in the attic of a strange house. Find the way out before you starve.

How to play
  • Illustrated: click a doorway, stairs or ladder to walk through it, click an item to pick it up, or walk with the arrow keys or WASD. On a phone, tap.
  • Type two-word commands like GET APPLE, EAT PIE or LOOK KEY, then press Enter.
  • Move with N S E W U D, or tap the compass. Unlit directions have no exit.
  • Every move costs health. Eat to stay alive. Try USE, WAVE, THROW, READ and PET on what you find.
  • Tap something under Here to pick it up (or pet it). Tap something in your pack to put its name on the command line, then add a verb.
  • NEWGAME starts over. ↑ recalls earlier commands.
About this version

Adventure House started as a .NET console game from Three Peppers Gaming, and grew into Adventure Realms, a framework for several adventures. This is the Adventure House adventure from it, rebuilt to run in the browser with the same rooms, items, messages and rules.

The illustrated view is a tribute in style to Blizzard's Diablo (1996): an isometric house, dark except for the warm light you carry. Every room, the cat and the furniture are drawn in code; nothing is taken from Diablo. Both views play the same game and share one save, so you can switch at any time. Explorer mode leaves exits and items out of the text, so you have to read the picture; Classic lists them as the text game does.
